The Mission

The mission of Real Girl Method is to practice positive body image. Anyone can do Pilates & Barre. Healthy living and general wellbeing should be prioritized over just appearance and weight. Real Girl Method encourages real health, real fitness and a positive attitude for all body types and promotes a fun learning environment so that anyone can achieve their goal.

What is Pilates?

Pilates yields numerous benefits. Increased lung capacity and circulation through deep, healthy breathing is a primary focus. Strength and flexibility, particularly of the abdomen and back muscles, coordination - both muscular and mental, are key components in an effective Pilates program. Posture, balance, and core strength are all heartily increased. Bone density and joint health improve, and many experience positive body awareness for the first time. Pilates teaches balance and control of the body, and that capacity spills over into other areas of one's life.

Joseph Pilates developed a system of exercises which were intended to strengthen the human mind and body, and he believed that mental and physical health were interrelated.

Indeed, Pilates is much more than an exercise method, it's a way of life.




What is Real Girl Pilates?

Real Girl Pilates takes the import key elements of Classical Pilates and mixes Contemporary Pilates movements, with Barre, Yoga, and Cheer for a fun, challenging Mat class.

What is Barre?

Fusing the best of pilates, yoga, aerobics, and elements of the strengthening exercises dancers do, Barre delivers a results-driven workout that is not only fun and dynamic, but it will sculpt your body and get you into absolutely amazing shape. While practicing Barre workout you will see improvements in your posture, flexibility, overall body strength, and balance.


What is Real Girl Barre?

A unique approach to Barre workouts. Fusing the best of Pilates, yoga, aerobics, and elements of the strengthening exercises dancers do, Real Girl Barre delivers a results-driven workout that is not only fun and dynamic, but it will sculpt your body and get you into absolutely amazing shape. You don't need to worry about having any dance experience in order to take a Barre class, because through Real Girl Barre you will learn the moves over time.

WHO IS REAL GIRL?

Growing up as a dancer and cheerleader, Erin Chambers was taught the discipline of keeping her body centered and in control. During that time, she had the opportunity to work with young students, which is when she found her passion for teaching.

While in undergrad, she discovered Kundalini Yoga, which she practiced throughout her college career. Called by practitioners "the yoga of awareness", it aims "to cultivate the creative spiritual potential of a human to uphold values, speak truth, and focus on the compassion and consciousness needed to serve and heal others." Through this practice she enhanced her self-discipline, awareness and self-study.

In 2005, she suffered a back injury—and through Pilates as a form of rehabilitation, she continued her self-study in a variety of disciplines, and pursued Pilates teacher training.

Erin is certified in Classical Mat Pilates and Pilates Reformer. Her method is both classical and non-traditional. A typical mat class taught by Erin is in the style and order of classical Pilates with a mix of kettlebells, stability ball, foam roller, tension bands and pilates props. A reformer private or group class mixes all the equipment that is available for a circuit. At times to change things up and keep the training fresh, Erin will incorporate cheerleading and dance aerobics and ballet barre movements into her repertoire. She is also certified in Barre, and mixes pilates and barre into all of her group classes.
